Nutrition for pancreatitis

Diet soup in the diet of patients with pancreatitis.

Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) is accompanied by severe pain. If left untreated, the disease becomes chronic, so frequent exacerbations are typical. The diet for pancreatic pancreatitis is essential. It is adherence to the principles of medical nutrition that significantly reduces the risk of developing an attack.

Characteristics of the diet.

Nutrition for pancreatic pancreatitis has its own characteristics. The main task of the diet is to reduce the activity of the organ. How to eat with pancreatitis, so as not to worsen your health? The fundamental principles are:

  • total rejection of fatty or fried and sweet foods;
  • lack of foods with coarse fiber in the diet;
  • in the cooking process, only cooking and steaming methods are used;
  • fractional diet - food intake is made in six to seven meals in small portions;
  • the food served must be pureed or finely chopped.

During the day, the patient should consume at least 2 liters of any liquid.

Acute nutrition

The acute pancreatitis diet helps eliminate severe symptoms of an attack. Its purpose is to stop the production of pancreatic juice that contains digestive enzymes. It is achieved by refusing to eat (in the first days) and by sticking to bed rest.

What can be eaten with pancreatitis during this period? In the first one to three days from the onset of the attack, depending on the severity of the patient's condition, the person will be advised to be completely hungry. Only drinking is allowed: alkaline mineral waters, a decoction of wild rose berries, weakly brewed unsweetened tea, water. After stabilizing the condition and eliminating the pain syndrome, patients are assigned a dietary table.

After stopping the attack, the food should be divided, up to 8 times a day. The initial serving size is no more than 50-100 grams. Since the low-calorie diet practiced during this period does not meet physiological norms, it is quite short - no more than 7 days. All the products used are boiled and the dishes are served hot and have a semi-liquid consistency.

Days Allowed products
First Porridge puree for spreads, slimy soups with cereals (millet and semolina are prohibited), vegetable decoctions, lightly brewed teas with the addition of granulated sugar, compote, homemade cookies, fruit jelly and jelly.
Second
Third Cottage cheese dishes: soufflés, puddings, pasta, steamed omelette.
Four Milk porridge.
Fifth Soup of meat puree.
Sixth Butter (small amount), vegetable puree (cabbage is prohibited).
Seventh Soufflé of meat or fish.

Then the patient is transferred to a basic diet, the variety of which depends on the presence of concomitant diseases. If we talk about which table is assigned most often, then this is number 5P. The diet for acute inflammation of the pancreas lasts for 6 to 12 months.

Nutritional therapy for the chronic form.

For patients with chronic pancreatitis, diet is a lifelong obligation, since any errors in nutrition can lead to an exacerbation of the pathology. Each attack of the disease is accompanied by a partial replacement of functional tissues by fibrous tissues, which ultimately leads to the development of an insufficiency of the secretory function of the gland.

Foods allowed for pancreatitis

During the period of exacerbation of the chronic form of pancreatitis, accompanied by severe pathological symptoms, the patient is prescribed a strict 7-day diet as in the acute form. After improving health, the patient is transferred to the diet according to table No. 5 P.

Its main features:

  • dishes served on the table should be cleaned or cut carefully;
  • the content of proteins, fats and carbohydrates meets the physiological needs of the body;
  • with assimilation of poor quality protein, its percentage decreases due to an increase in carbohydrate content;
  • products containing fiber and extracts are completely excluded;
  • the amount of salt is limited to 6 grams per day;
